About

Hello and Welcome! I’m Edie- a wife, a stay-at-home mom and a Pez collector. My head is a swirling cornucopia of ideas, dreams, random thoughts and nonsensical musings on life. My website and blog is a little peek into my world. I love crafting. I love baking. I love marmalade. I love exploring. I love my kids. I love being a stay-at-home mom. I love Pez dispensers. I love chocolate cake. I love my husband (sometimes ;-)

I’m looking at life a little differently these days. “Life is Flowers” has been my “motto” for as long as I can remember but it never had as much meaning to me as it does now. When I was growing up, I was deliriously naïve to think that nothing bad could ever happen to me. When we lost our first precious child in my early 20’s, I was beside myself. I became a different person (even though I didn’t realize it at the time.) I started focusing on all of the negative things and it became more and more difficult to hold on to the happy things. I feel like I was still a relatively happy person- but I wasn’t who I wanted to be.

I’m finally beginning to realize that there are just things in this world that suck and there isn’t anything I can do about them. Losing 3 children sucks. Incompetent Cervix sucks. Heart surgery sucks. Bedrest sucks. Depression and anxiety sucks. Sleep apnea sucks. Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) sucks. Brussel sprouts suck. All of these things have impacted my life beyond measure (except for brussel sprouts, I suppose)- but I refuse to let them control me anymore. I need to just deal with the “bad” as best I can and then go in search of all the good in this world. Like chocolate cake!

I’m using this website to help me understand and find solutions for my challenges- like the loss of my 3 beautiful children and my daughter’s FASD. But I’m also using it to organize my craft ideas and weekly lesson plans for my kids, experiment with a little baking and cooking, create a virtual scrapbook of our family and to document my never-ending search for happy things.

It is a celebration of life and all the things that make me smile. Life is Flowers!
