For years, I have walked with my friends and family to raise money for the March of Dimes in memory of my 2 precious angel babies, Chris and Alexander.
Chris was born severely premature at only 22 weeks. She fit in the palm of our hands and died in our arms two hours after she was born. Two years later, history repeated itself. Our son, Xander, was born at 22 weeks. He was slightly bigger than his sister but wasn’t strong enough to survive labor. I can’t even describe the pain we felt and I honestly didn’t think I would ever be able to pull myself back together again.
The March of Dimes- March for Babies event has been a critical piece of my healing process. While I was completely helpless to save my own babies, it gives me some comfort knowing that I can contribute to helping other women have healthy, full-term pregnancies and to hopefully help prevent other families from experiencing our same loss.
Every year, more than one half million babies are born too soon in the U.S. Some of them, like my beautiful babies, won’t survive… and others will have health problems that could last a lifetime. The March of Dimes mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.
If you would like to help, please consider donating to our March for Babies team by visiting my team page. The money we raise will support March of Dimes research and programs that help moms have full-term pregnancies and babies begin healthy lives. And it will be used to bring comfort and information to families with a baby in newborn intensive care.
To learn more, please visit either the March of Dimes or the March for Babies website.
Endless thanks!
